The Drau Cycle Path, a picturesque and family-friendly cycling route, takes you along the gently meandering Drau River through Austria, Italy, and Slovenia. With a total length of about 510 kilometers, this path offers a unique combination of natural beauty, cultural sights, and relaxed cycling enjoyment.

Your journey begins in Toblach in South Tyrol, Italy, where the Drau originates. From here, you follow the river through the East Tyrolean Drau Valley in Austria, a region known for its breathtaking alpine panoramas and unspoiled nature. The route takes you through charming villages and towns like Lienz, where you have the opportunity to explore the delightful old town and the surrounding mountain world.

Continuing along the river through Carinthia, you pass by green meadows, forests, and crystal-clear lakes. This stage of the Drau Cycle Path is particularly suitable for families, as the paths are well-developed, flat, and easy to ride. In Villach, a lively city with a southern flair, you can take a break and enjoy Austrian hospitality.

After leaving the Austrian border behind, the path leads through the idyllic landscape of Slovenia. Here, you experience the calm and relaxed atmosphere of rural Slovenia before reaching the destination of the Drau Cycle Path, the historic city of Maribor. Maribor, known for its vineyards and cultural treasures, provides the perfect conclusion to your cycling tour.
