The Ammer-Amper Cycle Path, a picturesque route in Bavaria, takes you on an idyllic journey along the rivers Ammer and Amper. Over approximately 200 kilometers, you will experience the beauty of the Bavarian landscape, from the Alps to the Danube, and discover charming towns and villages along the way.
Your adventure begins at the foot of the Alps, near the source of the Ammer in the picturesque Oberammergau, known for its Lüftl paintings and Passion Play. From there, you follow the course of the Ammer through the impressive Ammertal, surrounded by majestic mountains and green meadows. This section of the cycle path takes you through a dreamlike Alpine landscape and offers breathtaking views.
Further downstream, you reach the Ettal Monastery and the town of Oberau, where you can enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the Bavarian foothills. The path then leads you to the picturesque town of Weilheim, an ideal place for a relaxing break and to experience Bavarian hospitality.
After leaving Weilheim, you encounter the Amper River, which guides you through the lush Ampermoos. This region is known for its rich flora and fauna and offers you the opportunity to explore the untouched nature of Bavaria.
The cycle path winds further through the Amper Valley, passing historic towns like Fürstenfeldbruck and Dachau, before ending in Moosburg on the Isar. On this section, you can learn about the diverse history and culture of the region.
